SAFETY MEASURES & PROTOCOLS: Refresh is dedicated to providing the safest environment for all those in attendance at our events. We are closely monitoring federal public health statements regarding Covid-19 prevention, as well as those of state and local governments at our destination cities. As recommendations about best health practices develop and evolve, we will make changes as needed to ensure we are in compliance with the most up to date guidelines. We are also working with venues to determine how our policies and procedures regarding public health can enhance and complement their own.
LIMITED REGISTRATION CAPACITY: In order to ensure that there is enough physical space to maintain social distance for all persons at Refresh events, we have reduced the number of registration spaces by 50% of the original ballroom capacity. As restrictions lift, there is a possibility of allowing more registrants for cities.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING: Refresh will ensure that a distance of 6 feet is maintained between each dancer during classes by applying a grid to the ballroom floor. This grid will be taped out in each ballroom level. Our faculty is prepared with NEW custom teaching techniques and choreography that will work perfectly for this room layout.
LIMITED OBSERVATION: Refresh will be limiting the number of individuals allowed to observe classes in the Refresh viewing areas. All available wristbands will be available for sale on a first come first serve basis.
AWARD CEREMONY: Refresh will not be holding live award ceremonies in order to reduce the amount of contact between individuals at our events. Instead, we will be broadcasting all award presentations via live stream, which can be viewed directly on our home page. This live-streamed ceremony will include the presentation of both competition awards as well as scholarships. Studio owners may pick up their competition awards at the registration area. Scholarships will be available for pickup immediately following the last class.
COMPETITION LIVE STREAM: Refresh will once again be broadcasting a live stream of our competition. This will be available for free on the homepage of our website.
COMPETITION SPECTATORS: Refresh will only allow studio owners, registered teachers, and one guardian per student performing on stage to view the competition live. All seating arrangements will be limited and will adhere to all social distancing protocols.
COMPETITION LINE-UP: Refresh will be reducing the number of acts per each competition block. Refresh will work with each studio to ensure that their studio line-up best suits their needs.
DRESSING ROOMS: Dressing room space will be limited and available to only one studio at a time. Refresh staff will provide the same floor grid within the dressing rooms that will also be used on ballroom floors so that social distancing can be maintained. All dressing rooms will be cleaned before and after each studio uses them.
DANCE FLOOR & CARPETS: Floors in the venue will be cleaned and disinfected periodically throughout the event.
EVENT SPACE CLEANLINESS: In addition to all measures Refresh staff and employees are taking to ensure safe and healthy conditions during our live events, each venue has reported that it will be following enhanced cleaning protocols as well.
FACE COVERINGS: Face coverings are now required to be worn at all times by all Refresh staff members. We’re also requiring that all attendees do their part in helping to create a safe environment for everyone by wearing face coverings when outside of the dance rooms as well as to/from the Refresh stage during the competition.
FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS: Refresh is asking that any attendee of our events (staff, students, parents, etc.) who is experiencing flu-like symptoms will please stay home. Any registrant who is unable to attend a live event due to illness will be eligible to receive a full refund by providing a doctor’s note.
HAND WASHING: Refresh encourages everyone to please wash your hands thoroughly several times during the course of a day. Reminder signs will be posted throughout the event space.
TEMPERATURE CHECKS: Refresh staff will receive daily body temperature checks to ensure that all employees are physically well. We will have daily temperature check and symptom check dancers, their guests, and studio personnel when they arrive.
WATER STATIONS: We encourage all attendees to bring water bottles to remain hydrated during our events. The availability of public drinking fountains and water stations has been removed in many destination cities in order to reduce the number of areas where a high volume of people might gather.
